Time for Tea!

The women's ministry of First Baptist Jonesboro hosted a Treasured by God Tea Party on Saturday morning at the church. It was a beautiful time as we gathered to share our lives with each other, enjoy a wonderful tea party and hear our guest speaker, Sherri Dodd share from her heart God's Word and message through her Tea ministry.

That may sound abit odd to you, if you were not there, but it it true. Through Sherri's love of collecting tea pots and teacups, a ministry to women has flourished. God really spoke to my heart in many areas on Saturday, one of which is that if we fail to use the talents and treasurers He has gifted us with we are not vessels fit for His use and glory.

Another of the lessons that she taught was that God pursues me, He hunts for me just like she searched all over Europe for tea sets. I am overcome with JOY that the God of the universe could love me so much that He would "hunt for me" not just the hunt for salvation but that He continually pursues me, drawing me to Himself for fellowship and abiding love. I am so grateful that God loves me more than I could ever imagine or even begin to comprehend.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him. 2 Chronicles 16:8

Leanne is a Bible study teacher, former Women's Ministry leader, and retreat speaker. She spends much of her time volunteering, teaching, organizing and speaking at women's ministry events. She was instrumental in creating and introducing Women of Purpose as a new ministry at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, in 2006.

Leanne has authored and presents a women's retreat entitled, "The Offerings of My Heart" which is centered on Romans 12. The topics covered in this 5 hour teaching retreat/seminar include: Being a Living Sacrifice, Living the Transformed Life,
Renewing Your Mind, Understanding Your Spiritual Gifts.

This retreat/seminar theme has also been adapted for young girls and is entitled: Bella Butterfly. The focus for middle school and high school aged girls is understand from scripture what it means to be transformed and live a life that is pleasing to God. A spiritual gifts inventory test is given to each participant with instructions about how their particular gift fits into the body of Christ and the function of the church.

Leanne is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a BA in Business Administration from the Terry College of Business with a major in marketing. A former Miss Tifton and Miss Clayton County, who competed in the Miss Georgia Pageant and placed in the Top Ten and as Second Runner up in 1980-81. She has spent much of the last 25 years raising and homeschooling her daughters.

Leanne is a Registered Representative with Lincoln Financial Advisors, Insurance Agent and works with her husband in their Financial Planning business in Watkinsville, Georgia. Check out their website at http://www.brucefarman.com/.

In her spare time she enjoys decorating, painting, collecting vintage heirlooms, blogging, playing the piano and shopping with her daughters, and puppy sitting four Shih Tzu grandpuppies.
